James, I feel you may be right. There are alot of variables causing much uncertainty about this storm.
Forecast here show one day it's heading out to sea, another day up the east coast and today into the gulf.
IF it were coming faster, it looks like it would go out to sea,,unfortunately it seems the wind shear and high pressure is set to leave the GOM before it gets close enough.

I happen to talk to a FEMA worker today and asked her about katia.. she told me its another hurricane and then gave me a strange look and then she there is so much work to be done right now and they don't' know if it will get done by the time this hurricane hits. I wanted to ask her more questions but she kept diverting them and then left since she was in a hurry to get back to headquarters.

I had one of those "utto" moments when I read this - I think it was on the NOAA site.

Ah, that may be why I have a bad feeling when I hear the name "Hurricane Katia." I had not made the connection before. Undecided
